The University of Cologne New York Office assists with cultivating partnerships with North American partner universities, organizes delegation visits and serves as a first point of contact for faculty and students in the United States and Canada who are interested in the UoC. It assists with the organization of the University of Cologne’s summer school in New York and reaches out to the University’s network of German and international alumni residing in the United States or Canada.
The German Center for Research and Innovation (DWIH) New York promotes innovation and collaboration by planning and hosting events focused on current, topical issues in science and the humanities and by taking part in conferences, science fairs, and career fairs.
In New York, the focus is on the marketing of research funding, an effort conducted jointly with German partner organizations such as the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (AvH), and in collaboration with German universities in North America. Together, these two offices facilitate contact between scientists and researchers in Germany and North America, support early-career researchers here on a DFG fellowship, and organize outreach activities to showcase German research regionally.
The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is the world’s largest funding organization for the international exchange of students and researchers. The DAAD provides young people with the opportunity to gain international academic and research experience in Germany as well as worldwide.
The embassy is the official representation of the Federal Government of Germany in the United States. Our Visa, Passport and Legal Section provides services for US residents and German citizens within the Embassy's area of consular jurisdiction: Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia and the District of Columbia.
The American Council on Germany (ACG) is an independent, nonpartisan nonprofit organization that was founded in 1952 to strengthen German-American relations. Today, the ACG works across generations to provide a deeper, more nuanced understanding about Germany, Europe, and the importance of the transatlantic partnership. Through a range of programs and activities, the ACG addresses the most pressing economic, political, and social challenges of the day to ensure better mutual understanding.
As the globally active cultural institution of the Federal Republic of Germany, we advocate for understanding between Germany, Europe and the world. The framework agreement with the German Federal Foreign Office is the foundation for this work. Worldwide, we provide information about the cultural and societal diversity of Germany and Europe.
American Friends of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation was established in 1999 as the US nonprofit professional partner of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (AvH), based in Germany, and the over 6,000 members of US Humboldt alumni network. We are part of a worldwide network of 30,000 alumni of the AvH, including 61 Nobel Laureates and two former US secretaries of energy.
Since 1977, Deutsches Haus has provided New Yorkers with a unique forum for cultural, intellectual, and artistic exchange with Germany, Austria, and Switzerland through its three pillars: the language program, the cultural program, and the children's program.
The main task of the Stiftung Bayerisches Amerikahaus gGmbh – Bavarian Center for Transatlantic Relations (Amerikahaus Munich) is to inform the public, especially younger generations, about the importance of the transatlantic relations between Bavaria and North America. It does so by offering a wide range of cultural events and services, such as book presentations and exhibitions, theater performances and concerts, lectures and discussions, conferences, and workshops.
